Right to request training 'to be embraced by many'
One in three of those who do not currently receive training from their employer are likely to take advantage of a new scheme launched by the government to improve skills development, which could be good news for those applying for sales jobs.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has found that 42 per cent of workers have revealed they are very or somewhat likely to use the new right to request training from their employer, with 60 per cent of those aged 18 to 34 intending to take advantage of this right.
Frances O'Grady, deputy general secretary of the TUC, says the group will fully support this new right.
She said: "It's vital that employers support workers to acquire learning and skills. The right to request time to train will mean that more workers can propose some training to their employers."
The importance of skills to improving one's employability was recently highlighted by Dan Taubman, senior national education official at the University and College Union.
He said that people need the skills to work if the employment sector is to flourish again.
