Sales jobs: Govt pledges extra support for workplace mental health

The government has pledged that it will be doing more to keep people with mental health issues in the workplace, those applying for sales jobs may be interested to discover.

Jim Knight, minister for employment and welfare reform, has announced new measures including introducing new experts in this to Jobcentre Plus sites and improving the Access to Work fund.

He says that the government must do more to prevent employees with mental health issues from falling out of work onto sick leave and benefits, suggesting that these measures are a way to break the cycle.

Sophie Corlett, director of external relations at Mind, claims that employers can offer the right for these employees, which could include those applying for sales jobs.

She says: "We welcome the government's increased investment in mental health, particularly during these difficult economic times, when now more than ever people need the support and understanding of their employers."

Earlier this month, Experteers reported that women sales executives are progressing more quickly than men in these positions, although they are paid up to £13,000 less per year.
