Sales jobs: Young people need to be entrepreneurial
Labour needs to provide work placements for young people trying to get into sales jobs, according to one organisation, which said that under 19s need to be entrepreneurial in order to impress employers.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development said that 16 to 18-year-olds need the extra help as they are less likely to find work than the long-term unemployed at the moment.
Steve Huxham, chairman of resourcing specialists, The Recruitment Society, said: "If you present yourself in the right way and try to be entrepreneurial, there may be some opportunities come along that otherwise you wouldn't have expected."
He added that under-19s looking to secure positions, like sales jobs, could join local networking groups that could lead to contacts with companies they want to work for.
Young people wanting to land a sales job need to dress well as it can get an interview off on the right foot, according to Nicky-Hambleton Jones, who presented the Channel Four makeover show 10 Years Younger.
