Lying on CVs 'a waste of time'
Job candidates have been reminded that exaggerating facts or lying on their CVs is a waste of their own time.
Chris Cater, deputy founder of the Graduate Recruitment Bureau, stated that companies will check up on graduate resumes by examining qualifications, making it more difficult for jobseekers to lie about their achievements than someone who has been working for a number of years.
He went on to say that the likelihood of being offered sales jobs after an untrue CV has been submitted is less in a recession than in the good times.
Mr Carter added: "Don't lie, full stop. If you lie or exaggerate the truth, especially in today's environment, and you get caught out
they will automatically ask you to leave the company, or if you haven't started they will actually withdraw the offer."
Last week, recruitment training specialist Evolutions UK commented that the best graduates are failing to make a good impression in job interviews because they have not had the requisite training while at university.
