Remain positive and focus on the goal to get the job, expert claims

Jobhunters who remain positive and focused on their goal of obtaining a sales job will succeed despite the credit crunch, an organisation asserts.

Chris Morrall, a graduate recruitment careers management expert, claims it is crucial for applicants to be confident if they are to inspire this in the people interviewing them.

He advises those looking at sales jobs to know their CVs inside and out as it is their "marketing document" and one of the likely areas they will be asked about.

Recommending that candidates should always follow up their applications, he says a high level of organisation can ensure these individuals keep track of what they need to do next.

Mr Morrall states: "Every application has to be your best … In the current market, less applications, of better quality, tailored to the organisation and the role, may work better."

According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), more than a third of organisations aim to keep their headcount at its current rate, with a quarter aiming to increase the number of staff they employ.
