Sales recruitment 'first stop' for business women

Sales recruitment is one of the areas young women looking to enter the job market first look to, an expert says.

President of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs Tanya Hine claims it is often the approachability of these firms which increases their attraction.

"Business [women] very often go into… recruitment, design and HR, that sort of friendly companies," she claims.

Identifying a trend for women seeking to establish their own companies entering the field, she says they often make a "great success" of it.

She recommends those looking to set up their own firm look to areas which would allow them to stand apart from the crowd.

"It has to be different," she asserts, claiming traditionally fields which attract women are saturated with other start-ups.

Hairdressing and reiki are areas which she sees as presenting difficulties of this type.

According to Working Lives, released by the Office for National Statistics, women are more likely to be employed in sales jobs.

The general services sector accounted for 92 per cent of positions for women during March of this year.
