Sales jobs in motor industry to see 'dramatic increase'

An expert predicts a 'massive' increase in the number of sales jobs and customer service roles to become available in the retail motor industry.

The spokesman for the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) claims the public is gaining an awareness of the variety of roles available in the sector which suggests an increased need for recruitment services.

He says there will be a realisation that careers in the sector are not just "under the bonnet" but hold appeal for those experienced in customer service and looking for sales jobs.

The representative is keen to highlight the variety of positions available and the number of routes which can be taken to reach them.

"It's not just for people that aren't necessarily good at school," he comments.

Describing the option for school-leavers taking diplomas or apprenticeships to enter the field, he also identifies roles for those who have gone through higher education.

Overall, the UK retail motor industry employs more than 600,000 people.
