VoIP could benefit SME sales staff
Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) employing staff making a lot of phone calls are among those most likely to benefit from VoIP phone systems, according to Vonage.
For those businesses with sales jobs positions, particularly those using phones away from the office, VoIP offers a "fantastic opportunity" to save.
Vincent Potier, managing director of VoIP service provider Vonage, suggests that most telecoms providers "exploit small businesses even more than they exploit residential users".
He said: "When you are running a small business, saving on telecoms costs is not the first thing you think of.
But Mr Potier claimed that "what drives people to stay with the known and tried is actually want reinforces the poor quality that the normal telecoms companies deliver".
A recent survey by T-Mobile indicated that 42 per cent of small businesses think they pay too much for their mobile communications.
In another survey by silicon.com and The Bathwick Group, 60 per cent of small businesses were considering investing in VoIP in 2007.
