New training standard introduced by LSC

A new training kite mark to help employers select appropriate training for their staff has been launched by the Learning & Skills Council (LSC).

The Training Quality Standard has been endorsed by both sales employers and sales recruiters and is designed to recognise excellence in employee training.

Commenting at the launch skills minister David Lammy noted that training provides the backbone to any successful business.

He said: "By bringing training providers and employers together to deliver economically valuable skills and qualifications we will make high quality training accessible for all.

"The Training Quality Standard will be a mark that employers can trust and I hope many more providers will, in time, go on to achieve it."

Focusing on specific employer needs, the standard assesses trainers against responsiveness to employer needs and the particular vocational area of companies engaged in sales recruitment.

Meanwhile, the government has delayed the introduction of recommendations from the Leitch Review of Skills requiring employers to provide mandatory Level 2 training by 2010.
